What if Da ThRONe Ruled the World? (Lord Help Us All)

February 2nd 2010 in Guest Socks, Political

Trons-world-domination2

Hello, Socks Heads,

Being that it’s Black History Month (and let’s not forget every month is Black History Month) I’m feeling real political. Now, I’ve always considered myself in the highest of percentiles when it comes to intellect and since NWSO has giving me a platform to blog more regularly I will use it to flex my mental muscles. (Trust, ladies, it’s just as strong as the physical ones).

The following post is predicated on Tron K. Miles (aka Da ThRONe) having complete authority in decision-making for this country.

Cue Nas’ “If I Ruled the World.”

First things first, “I believe the children are the future/Teach them well and let them lead the way…” See, any country that doesn’t value the mental wellbeing of their youth is a doomed society. If I ruled the world I would make sure that federal revenues were evenly distributed so every school countrywide received equal and adequate funding.

This is non-negotiable.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link and we as a country need to understand that while individual goals are great it’s nothing if the greater goals suffer for it. There is no way the people whose job it is to shape the minds of our children should be so underpaid. This inexcusable!

Since I’m already singing, I’ll just stick to the theme.

Raise your kids, raise your kids, raise yo goddamn kids.” No matter how fine the learning institution is, it’s all pointless if the kids have no will to learn. This stems for a lack of parenting plain and simple. It’s a shame our government can force us to do all kinds of meaningless things, but won’t enforce rules for people to take responsibility for the lives we create.

Not if I’m running this bitch!

If I ruled the world, you could make as many babies as you like but you would be responsible for each and ever one of those little bastards—legally and financially. You will either take care of your kids or else you will suffer.

Child support would be mandatory for anybody who doesn’t have joint custody of his or her kids. And anybody who was receiving child support would be randomly selected for audits to make sure the money was benefiting said child. Not only that, I would issue fines and/or penalties including jail time if your child was breaking laws, missing school, and not properly prepared for school (meaning never doing homework, was unsanitary, or wasn’t properly nourished).

For some this may seem overly invasive or not fair, but the reality is the actions of others have a profound affect on everybody. Ask any mother who has lost a life to senseless violence. You don’t counteract senseless violence with more police and bigger jails, you counteract senselessness with SENSE. And if I had to I would have no problem forcing people to use some.

“Money, money, money, monnneeyy, mooooonnney/Some people got to have, oh, oh/Some people really need it.” I’m not sure if people know who Ralph Nader is but I got this idea from him. He spoke of something so simple it sounded impossible to my capitalistic ears. He spoke of something called “living wages” and it’s been in my brain ever since.

Basically, for those who don’t know what that is it’s like minimum wage. Instead of allowing companies to pay you the bare minimal, it requires all companies (with an exemption for small business owners) to pay all their employees a salary that will allow them to work their 40+ hours a week and receive no less then what’s needed to keep their heads above water in their local area. Yeah, I know it goes against all this capitalistic bullshit they’ve been feeding most of us since birth.

Capitalism was introduced to this country for the sole purpose of allowing the rich to become even more insanely rich and to remain that way. Capitalism is the source of most of our economic issues now. The big C goes against everything our founding fathers (with their slave owning asses) had in mind for this great country. Anybody who thinks the average 67-year-old billionaire is really in touch with the common man needs to have his/her head examined. Capitalism as it’s practiced now is like letting the inmates run the asylum.

World in palm

Don’t worry/Be happy.” There are some useless laws on the book that need to be reexamined, reworked or just removed. My idea of a crime is when a person or group hurts others or infringes on the rights of others. So for me there are so many things that aren’t legal now that would be if I ran this bitch.

To me, way too many people are in prison or dead because of drugs. The whole thing can easily be defused. Outlawing drugs makes the same amount of sense as outlawing alcohol or tobacco products. If people want it they will have it and the only thing that denying people what they want causes is more chaos. It has been proven that the best way to deal with things like this is to allow and regulate it.

Regulation not only provides that said product will be as safe as possible but revenue can be made from it and used to fund many other things. I don’t know one person who is avoiding the usage of illegal narcotics simply because it’s illegal. I know buying cocaine at your local Walgreens sounds crazy but so was buying beer at one point and both are addictive. Same with prostitution. Anything consenting adults wanna do is their right to do whether you/I like it or not.

“War, HUH!/What is it good for/Absolutely nothing.” I would completely change this nation’s approach to foreign affairs. People should be dragged outside the White House lawn and shot for war crimes (I’m not saying any names).

I can say the last three or four major conflicts we’ve been in are bullshit wars for the gain of a few at the cost of many. I don’t feel any safer now then I did before/during/after 9/11 and I don’t know why I would. Military action should be a last resort not our first. But I guess when it’s not your family that’s doing the dying it’s easy to make that call. Unless we plan on killing them all (just joking) we can never end a conflict with war, that only adds more fuel to the fire. I’m all for funding the CIA and any other counterterrorist ops we have, but actually declaring war against people with no official country to begin with is just plain ol’ stupid.

“What, what, in the butt.” Do I really need to explain this one? LOL. I would grant gay people the same right to form a union, serve in the military or do whatever their little accessorizing hearts desired.

“It’s the end of the world as we know.” This country is like 50 years past due looking for alternative sources of energy. But this is what happens when you let private businesses run things. Their decisions aren’t based on what’s best for you, me, or this country—hell, the world. For them, it’s profit margins and shareholders.

Once again it’s a government’s job to do what’s best for the people it governs and our addiction on fossil fuel is out of control. I wouldn’t allow big business to stunt the growth of progress. I would encourage, no, I would force the auto industries to use hybrid vehicles. The technology is there, every vehicle sold in the last three or four years should be a hybrid vehicle.

Some of the products they allow companies to put in our foods is crazy. And people wonder why 12-year-old girls look 25. Why we’re obese at an alarming rate. Why cancer is up, along with depression and a whole list of other things.

Everybody has a boss and until enough people realize that we, the people, are this nation’s boss we will continue to deal with bullshit. We don’t have to take it, but people are too busy buying rims and Gucci shoes; gas guzzlin’; shaking their asses in the club; hating on somebody else because they’re a different color; buying shit we don’t; or trying to get to a place in life where we can separate ourselves just to feel like we’re better than others. But we’re all in this together and we all are getting less than we deserve.

But all of that would change of you elected me, Da ThRONe, ruler of the world.

Let freedom ring.

What do you think of Da ThRONe’s plans for world domination? Do you agree that teachers are underpaid? Do you think America’s welfare system needs to be revamped? Or, if used properly, could it actually help people below the poverty level? What are your thoughts on living wages? Would that even the playing field for Americans or defeat the purpose of Capitalism? Does Capitalism breed greed and crime? Should certain drugs like marijuana be legalized? Why? Do you think that prisons can ever reform someone? Do you feel we live in a society that is o quick to engage in war? Would you want to live in a world where Da ThRONe was ruler?

Speak your piece…

***The views expressed in this post are those of Da ThRONe and do not necessarily reflect those of NWSO (No way am I letting him take credit for this nugget of “geniusness” I just dropped.)***

If Tron ruled the world (or the US for that matter, not like yall the world or anything :P ), I’m moving in.

In general I agree with a lot, if not most of his views. These at hand are no different.
Tron is a Communist at heart and as much as America despises that word, Communism in it’s pure form is a good thing. The Communist leaders of the past (and present) simply have gotten the concept all messed up and are not remotely close to what Marx had envisioned.

Granted, it might be utopic but hey, a girl can dream. More governmental regulation is definitely in order as far as the basic needs are concerned: everyone should have a roof over their heads, food in the fridge, access to quality education, access to health care and a healthy lifestyle (organic food, excercise etc.), plus the ability to partake in social activities every now and then and of course enough financial means to prepare themselves for the years of retirement. Companies should not be able to find loopholes which allow them to pay their employees wages nobody can survive with. Minimum wage should actually cover the cost of living a decent lifestyle which allows for everything I mentioned above.

I could yap on forever. So in short: Let’s let Tron rule the world.

LOL @ “do whatever their little accessorizing hearts desired”

I swear Tron sounds like a Will Smith character or my almost 14 year-old son. If life were only this simple.

IMy response is pretty much ^^^^ (that’s my new sign for “what Elle said) so I will not repeat. I’d buy a house in this land, except I don’t want to live ANYWHERE NEAR the crack Wallgreens.

Ok, I guess I only answered the first question. So here are the others:

Do you agree that teachers are underpaid?
- From all I hear about it, I guess so. In Germany they are not underpaid at all.

Do you think America’s welfare system needs to be revamped?
- Absolutely.

What are your thoughts on living wages?
- See above. Wages should be able to afford a comfortable lifestyle even for “lower level” jobs. If you want more than being comfortable, you can always get a better job. People shouldn’t have to worry about not having enough money to pay rent, to go grocery shopping so they can actually cook a healthy meal, to go to the doctor when they are sick and so on. Those are basic human rights.

Would that even the playing field for Americans or defeat the purpose of Capitalism? Does Capitalism breed greed and crime?
- Capitalism is overrated. Especially in the USA. It may have its perks because it allows for industrial development through growth fueled by competition. But it is too cut-throat on an everyday level. A healthy mixture of government regulation and economic freedom should be the goal. We all are first hand witnesses to what happens when we just let Capitalism run it’s course. It get’s way out of hand. The human kind is bad by default. This may sound harsh but greed and crime are sort of “built in”. I do not trust bankers and large corporations to make decisions with the overall interest of society in mind. Therefore, they need to be regulated.
Karl Marx predicted everything that is currently going on in the economy simply based on mathematical – and therefore unemotional and unbiased – models. Capitalism cannot succeed in the long run if we merely look at the numbers/formulas. The system is self-destructive due to its nature.

Should certain drugs like marijuana be legalized? Why?
- Why not? Crimes related to drug use would decrease. The drugs themselved would hopefully be “cleaner” and hence less dangerous. Organized crime would be combatted without much effort.
What’s the difference between alcohol and weed? None. People do what they want to do anways. Why criminalize them?

Do you think that prisons can ever reform someone?
- Sometimes, sometimes not. IMO it depends on the case at hand. There is no hope whatsoever for some people (pedophiles etc.). But there are tons of people who are in jail who wouldn’t be there in the first place if the world they lived in was a better one.

Do you feel we live in a society that is o quick to engage in war?
-Americans? HELL YEAH. Yall quick to jump into an excisting war that’s none of your business to begin with and cause wars of your own at the same hotheaded rate.
With the exception for those who witnessed the Pearl Harbor attacks Americans do not know what it is like to experience war on your own soil. You do not have the slightest idea what it means to live in a warzone. Europeans do. We all have grandparents and parents who tell us what it means to have to hide in the basement because the bombers are flying over the city. They have lived in ruins, ate rats and pigeons, had nothing left but the clothes on their backs etc. Those are not stories from a distant past but our parents/grandparents were there to live it. And even I grew up seeing buildings which weren’t destroyed completely but had bullet holes from WWII. Or up until 1989 every Wednesday sirens across the country would go off at noon to test the emergency system in case the people needed to be warned of an attack. Sometimes they would go off outsided of those expected times due to a glitch in the system – what a horrible feeling when you hear those damn things. Being that I grew up in Berlin it was a common thing to see tanks roll around the streets so the allies could get to their training grounds, fighter jets over the city and all. Not cute. And that was in times of peace. I do not want to imagine what it is like to live in times of war. To cut a long story short: if they had an idea what war REALLY means for the people, Americans (the govt.) wouldn’t be so quick to engage in it IMO.

What do you think of Da ThRONe’s plans for world domination?
-I agree with ThRONe ^_^.

Do you agree that teachers are underpaid?
- Going to school to be a teacher, I can tell you, that’s all people tell me; I’ll eventually be poor and overworked and disillusioned with children, but if I go in thinkin that way, how am I ever going to change the minds of some teenaged kids? :P

Do you think America’s welfare system needs to be revamped? Or, if used properly, could it actually help people below the poverty level?
- I’ve seen too many of my family on welfare misusing it. Really. Welfare, and you have an LCD 52 inch tv? If used the right way, maybe by random audits of those on it, it could help everyone below the poverty line and not the select few who know how to “work” it.

What are your thoughts on living wages? Would that even the playing field for Americans or defeat the purpose of Capitalism?
-Living wages sound perfectly ideal and it would definitely level the playing field. Everyone deserves the right of financial stability, not just the higher ups.

Should certain drugs like marijuana be legalized? Why?
-Yes, because as we see daily, just because it’s illegal doesn’t mean people aren’t getting it and by legalizing it, it takes off some of the taboo. Plus, it’d add more revenue. :P

Do you think that prisons can ever reform someone?
-Not necessarily. Some people, who are just off their rocker, do deserve to be reformed, but prison isn’t the way. It’s where criminals go to become better criminals if they so choose.

Do you feel we live in a society that is quick to engage in war?
-Of course. In our society, war is like a peeing match between men. It has no real reasons behind it other than searching for things that aren’t there. *Cough cough Bush cough cough*

Would you want to live in a world where Da ThRONe was ruler?
-Sure, why not? lol

Organic food for everyone! Fair wages for teachers! I think I’m a little in love with Da ThRONe now. I can only ask that he goes after the beauty and make-up industry next. Lead in lipstick is unacceptable no matter how miniscule they claim the amount added is. Teachers are woefully underpaid. When I announced that I was going to be a teacher I knew many of my “richer” friends were thinking “you cannot even live in the park on what a teacher makes”. I pretty much agreed with all of D’s views. Let me know if you need a campaign manager!

I agree with many things you highlighted. When you’re movement starts…give me a holla!!!

I forgot to get into to the prison system. I would setup up two different prison systems. One for reforming people and another just for people to remain who refuse to be reformed(I dont believe in capital punishment). With more laxed laws an actually crime wouldnt be subjective. So if your committing them your hurting people directly.

There is no way we should live in a society that allows individual groups to makes a profit off of incarcerating people.

Da Throne maybe you should move to Europe. You would find more people that align with your thinking and I do agree with you for the most part, won’t add much to that.

And i totally agree.. our teachers get paid way too little to have to deal with our kids for 8 hours a day. Also, if we taxed the hell out of drugs that people buy illegally.. the luster would be gone.. quick!!!

@ da THRONE.. Good Job Mr. President!!!

@Mimi in the OC

While I know what you said was said in jest ,but I dont think the problem is the # of people who align with my thinking(most of my post is only common sense). The problem is Americans are pacified and just accept things the way they are. Which isnt by accident. It’s not a mistake that so many young black teens can recite all Lil Wayne mixtapes verbatim ,but have no clue who the surgeon general is or what they do.

“The problem is Americans are pacified and just accept things the way they are. ”

I agree. It’s so much easier to turn on the radio and recite lyrics, surf the web and consume random info, watch the tele and absorb the “masses” (make that what you wish) definition of reality than it is to take the time and effort to create a reality of your own. A reality that could potentially cause others to stop and think about their reality. It’s these influences that act as the catalyst for change. It’s much easier to jump on the sound bite wagon and pretend to have an opinion that counts.

I love how the options was to “move to Europe”, haha.

I wonder if Europeans suggest that their more wasteful and amorale friends “move to the US”.

Just funny no? It reminds me of the stereotype conversation we had not long ago.

Not sure how old Da ThRONe is, I think he’s a youngin’, but he is pretty aware…respect youngbuck! :-)

Do you agree that teachers are underpaid?
Teachers are totally underpaid…I grew up in a family of teachers (my mom particularly) and it makes no sense, to me, that we can pay an athlete millions of dollars to throw, hit, or catch a ball but the starting salary for teachers (in NY) is barely over $40k….WTH?

Do you think America’s welfare system needs to be revamped?
I think the welfare system should be totally revamped…these women (in particular) should be held accountable for the $ and food they are receiving and take initiatives to try to eventually get off of welfare…do the job training, computer training, etc… stop just sitting around collecting a check! (not meant for those who don’t just sit around and collect one).

What are your thoughts on living wages?
Totally agree with a living wage… cost of living is different per city…I am a socialist at heart and we don’t have to try and out-do each other…we can all get by to live somewhat equally…capitalism is driving most of our crimes with many of us fighting and committing crimes to “be like the Joneses.”

I have family in Norway and while taxes are almost like 60%, you can work at Burger King and still have the bomb apartment, because they have a real living wage! Also all health care is free, and all college is free (bachelors, masters, PHds, etc.).

We’re doing something wrong here!

Should certain drugs like marijuana be legalized?

I agree with Tron on this…you regulate drugs, prostitution that’s more $ going into the economy and you can better insure safe practice (e.g. STD screenings for prostitutes as well as free birth control).

Do you think that prisons can ever reform someone?

Prison can restore SOME folks if you provide them with options upon their release…whether it’s going back to school, getting a job, job training…something legitimate that hopefully will help them make some $ or lead them to making $ (education) so they won’t have a need to go back on to the streets or whatever it was that they were doing that put them in jail to begin with.

Do you feel we live in a society that is o quick to engage in war? Yes we do…and again like he said, for capitalistic reasons.

Would you want to live in a world where Da ThRONe was ruler? Totally…though I have a feeling that he might be a dictator! LOL

Yes … Da’ Throne for president. I agree with all the answers so far :) . I think a lot of Americans are too selfish to sacrifice the things that Da’ Thrones’ world would require and sadly enough a large part of the world is following. I’d definitely jump on the “Da’ Throne for Dictator” band wagon :)

For the most part I agree with everything said here. I really just wanted to comment on welfare and the prison reform issue. IMO welfare is designed for u to get on and stay on. As much as the government tries to make it seem like its there to help. Its actually a huge hinderance. Most people once they get a taste of the “good”life they wont work to change it. Welfare is basically free money courtesy of me(the taxpayer). It does no one, but the lazy person any good. As far as prison reform in most cases it does not reform because when u get out u have no options. Who wants to hire a convivted felon. In order to reform there has to be options provided to succeed. If not they will more than likely revert back to what landed them in jail.

Seeeeeee Tron, move to Europe. I have BEEN telling you that :P

Um, actually yea. Sometimes we do tell certain “individuals” to move to the States based on their mindset/behaviour. “Americanized” is basically an “insult” where I’m from….LoL.

@ Da Throne “(most of my post is only common sense).” This is true… but what i’m sure you know already (since your so smart :) ) is common sense isn’t all that common! lol! i mean I completely agree with everything you mentioned, and If more people in authority used their common sense then things wouldn’t be so bad…but that will never happen because everyone is out for themselves! its all about what they can do to make sure they are becoming richer (as you stated) and everyone else is suffering!

Great post!!!

I thought this was a very interesting post.

I agree with the need to regulate the use of drug abuse, I saw on National Geographic where Canada actually has a pilot program where they allow IV drug users to shoot up at a clinic. The clinic is run by nursing professionals, they are given clean needles and all the other tools to shoot up. And for those who have a overdose the nurses are there to bring them back to life. The kicker is they do this all in front of a mirror, so when they actually see themselves come back from the dead some go to the 2nd floor of this clinic which is a rehab center and finally get help. So far this clinic has had no deaths from OD, they have rehabilitated 6,000 people, and helped stopped the rapid spread of AIDS/HIV….it was very interesting program to say the least

Harper also examines himself throughout the book, asking questions as to why he’s single and hasn’t committed to love.

In an effort to meet somewhere in the middle, Melissa finally asked, “Where do you live?”

“Queens,” I responded.
