Thank You, You’re Welcome (NWSO’s 1st Anniversary)

Do you know what today tomorrow is… Well, yeah, it is Independence Day for folks in the United States, but July 4th also marks the birth of NakedWithSocksOn.com. It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already, but here we are.
After 365 days and 408 blogs (damn, that’s a lot of writing), NakedWithSocksOn.com has evolved from a mere blog to an online community with an official URL. I really had no idea what this site was going to be about when I started it, but you guys have helped steer both me and the site into what it is today.
Despite popular belief, I don’t get paid for this (yet). It’s completely a labor of love, so it’s your continued support, comments and feedback that keep me going day in and day out. I was going to shout out a few consistent commenters who keep things “interesting” on here, but I didn’t want to alienate anyone. Just know I’m so very appreciative of the fact that so many of y’all don’t just take in these fragments of my life and thoughts, but also feel comfortable enough to share yourselves with me/us as well. I’m especially grateful for those that continue to share the blog with their friends and family. There’s nothing like word of mouth promotion. I’m still blown away by the fact I have readers in India.
Before I move forward into year two of NakedWithSocksOn.com, I want to take a moment to thank a few people who’ve helped me out along the way. First, I have to give props to my boys Will, Cam and Eddie from Random Order Media Group for the site redesign and nifty business cards. Thanks for putting up with my nitpicking. There were also various established sites and bloggers that showed me love early on and help introduce me to their audiences—including NahRight.com, ThankGodImFamous.com, ParlourMagazine.com, TheIndustryCosign.com, ABelleInBrooklyn.com, SOHH.com, HelloBeautiful.com, Essence.com, NecoleBitchie.com, TheSmokingSection.com, BlogXilla.com, BlackPower.com and FunkyMinds.com, to name a few. Y’all looked out for a youngster on the blog scene when you didn’t have to and that means a lot.
As for the future of NakedWithSocksOn.com, I have a lot of big plans. You’ve probably noticed the recent addition of ads to the site. If enough of you click on them, I may get a check in the mail one day. Those that follow me on Twitter and on the FaceBook fan page, have probably heard murmurs about the NWSO T-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies and thongs (I know some ladies requested boy shorts, but sorry those will have to wait ’til a later date). I’m still tweaking the designs, so bare with me but as soon as they’re ready, you’ll be the first to know. I also copped a FlipCam recently and as soon as I get my editing skills together there should be some NWSO video blogs and street pools on the horizon as well. Further down the line there’ll be NWSO book(s), but that’s an extremely slow process. Trust me, though, it will happen.
The only thing left to do now is celebrate. In case you’ve missed the memo, next Thursday, July 9, 2009 is the night of the official NWSO One-Year Anniversary Bash. Everyone is welcome to share in this great night of good music, sexy women (who will have just read Wet Wednesdays), single men and chance to meet the man behind the blog, Anslem “NWSO” Samuel. Apologies in advance for those outside the Tri-State area, but I know you’ll be there in spirit. Either way I look forward to hearing from you in the comments section below and celebrating in your presence next week.
